One of the first consequences of volcano eruptions is the emission of large plumes of ash reaching thousands of meters above the eruption spot within few hours.












Using ash plume propagation models at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, considering meteorological conditions at the moment of the eruption, it is possible to estimate the extent and shape of these large ash plumes at different height levels for the Kelud volcano in Indonesia.
